High Speed Helicopters?

As we watch how technology has given us ever more maneuverable aircraft like the F-22 and others the specter of those unusually shaped vehicles long imagined in comic books and science fiction magazines appear to be coming closer and closer.
It now appears helicopters are advancing as well, and Sikorsky is on the leading edge of this revolution. Expected to fly at 250 knots forward air speed the Sikorsky X2 is blazing a new path for helicopters by flying at twice the speed of the current fleet of helicopters. 
Using advanced technology including fly-by-wire and a counter-rotating coaxial rotor while retaining the low speed capabilities of current helicopters. It can still hover and autorotate in the event of engine failure, keeping the best features of a helicopter while pushing the envelope for propeller driven aircraft.
Sikorsky is focused on creating an aircraft that provide more speed without compromising the essential attributes that make helicopters valuable. This helicopter will eliminate the compromise between hover and forward speed.
