The problem - of course - is that technology moves forward and sometimes it is difficult to see far down the road into the future. Even the aircraft operators didn't expect to own jets 50 years ago, so it is not surprising that problems now arise.

I would suggest that you work with the local airport and create a users/neighbors group and try to work together to come up with a solution - one that is not one-sided but that works towards co-operation. I am sure the owners of these jets want to be good neighbors too, so I would encourage you to start communicating with one another to find a solution that works for everyone.

I live very close to the airport, and I actually LIKE the airport. But the jets are simply too much. They blast heavy exhaust into the entire neighborhood. The noise rattles our house. And because of the super-short runway, they have to back right up to the wall for takeoff, and landings are hair-raising every time! This airport is a major crash waiting to happen. I wish the airport could go back to being a small airport for prop planes, like it was for fifty years before the corporate jets came in. Then the complaints would all die down. So I agree with this, tell the celebs to keep their jets out!

BTW, just heard that the FAA will now be testing unmanned drones at SMO. Are they noisy and polluting too?
