An Old Boat and Lots of Water

Anyone who knows pilots know that they also love the water. Most of the pilots I know at one time or another had a sail boat, and when summer comes and its time to relax, a sailboat provides that respite.
One of my friends who owned a number of airplanes built himself a tug boat in the back of his business, and then docked the tug boat at his cottage in Northern Michigan. He would fly up there in his Cessna 206 on floats, hop in the tug boat and cruise the river.
Today I ran across another interesting story about the John J. Harvey, an old retired fireboat which plowed the waters around New York City for decades putting out fires. Here is an interesting video about this incredible boat:
A young woman by the name of Jessica DuLong became the engineer on the boat and fell in love with its diesel engines. To chronicle her passion about this boat she wrote a very interesting book I am certain you would love to read. Her book, “My River Chronicles: Rediscovering America on the Hudson” is a great read and would help any pilot sitting in a pilot’s lounge pass the time quickly.
Pick up your copy today at “My River Chronicles: Rediscovering America on the Hudson“ – you will be glad you did!
Until next time keep your wings straight and level Hersch!
