A Different Kind Of Killer Bee

by John M. White |

I must admit that I am somewhat fascinated by the UAVs out there, and it is amazing what they are doing with them. These days they are used for everything from finding fish to checking out the atmosphere. I think a lot of us thought that with all those satellites out there the day of the U-2 and SR-71 were over. Wrong! Today Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are used all over the world. I am doing some consulting for a company in Michigan that manufactures movable demountable wall systems, and one of the recent clients were some rooms out at Edwards AFB in California where the pilots sit and fly these UAVs half a world away!  Amazing technology. Which brings me to today's topic. There is a new Killer Bee on the block, this one has a real sting!

This UAV is the Swift KB4-Blended-Wing-Body UAV which is a small un-manned tactical aircraft which can fly for some 15 hours with a 30 pound payload. The wingspan is just 10 feet, and it needs no runway.

Whether you need to use cameras, lasers, searchlights or gather video, this little ship can do it all.

Enjoy the video.

Until next time keep your wings straight and level Hersch! JetAviator7 When my brother and I built the first man-carrying flying machine we thought that we were introducing into the world an invention which would make further wars practically impossible. — Orville Wright, 1917.
