The Aviator's Dream Home

by John White |

Aviators Dream HomeAviator’s One-of-a-Kind Extreme Makeover Home, Could Be Yours! It has been almost 5 1/2 years since we were surprised and overjoyed by the megaphoned voice of ABC”s Ty Pennington yelling, “Good Morning Hurston Family!” The whirlwind that took place after that greeting resulted in over 3,000 people from our community giving of their time and resources to build a gorgeous 5 bedroom aviator’s tropical dream home. Before the build, the six of us had been living between our flood damaged, gutted house and an old motorhome. Despite our humble living conditions, we kept on doing our charitable work flying water purification systems to disaster victims around the world often in our turbo Cessna 337 (It has 14 fuel tanks!). It’s just what we do. Learn more at Air Mobile Ministries. We have loved every minute of living in our Extreme Makeover home. However, with all but one of our children grown and living on their own, the time has come for us to downsize. This is good news for one lucky family who will be able to purchase this one-of-a-kind home. What makes it so special? Well, for one thing there is a 22 foot section of a Southwest Airlines 737 beautifully placed between the living room and the kitchen. This provides for a breakfast nook on the kitchen side with real overhead bins for storage. It’s always first class in this kitchen which also has three ovens, and a cobalt blue Viking Gas stove!

The Fuselage

737 Fuselage And on the living room side, the jet shines in all its glory with the promise of adventure. The rest of the expansive room makes you feel like you are in a Key West resort. And the fan on the turquoise ceiling will blow you away, literally! The adjoining dining room is a tropical beauty with glass sliding doors and a giant driftwood chandelier. The aviation magic continues upstairs with an airplane wing jutting out of the mural on the walls of the Island Beach bedroom our son enjoyed so much in his teen years. Its always a vacation feeling in this room! What little girl doesn’t like tea parties? The tea party bedroom features real rideable spinning teacups and a huge fantasy teapot in a garden of flowers and butterflies. You have to see it to believe it! A third bedroom features its own private balcony. It also has a wall with floor to ceiling blackboard/cork board combination for any student to enjoy. Who has that? There is no more serene and beautiful room than the master bedroom. It relaxes the soul with its seafoam colored walls, recessed lighting, gas fireplace and full length balcony overlooking the swaying palm trees. The master bathroom features a jetted garden tub that has ever-changing colored lights, mother-of-pearl spherical pendant lights and spa quality tiled shower. Outside is a 2.3 acre paradise with Palm trees, a fireplace, pond and waterfall, an outdoor kitchen, a chicken coop and a raised vegetable garden. Oh and I almost forgot to tell you, this house generates its own power! With cutting edge solar panels and a wind turbine, the electricity bill for this 3,600 square foot home is under $100.00! Best of all, the home was built with love. It’s evident in every detail. Our community came together and worked around the clock to provide us with this awesome home. Now that we have raised our family here, its time for another family to enjoy this amazing home. Enjoy the whole Extreme Makeover Home Edition show at the link provided and imagine you and your family in this aviator’s tropical dream home!
