Israeli Air Force Preparing for Attack on Iranian Nuclear Facilities?

by John M. White |

Earlier in June of this year more than 100 F-16, F-15 fighters as well as helicopters and aerial refueling tankers carried out maneuvers over the Mediterranean Sea and Greece.  The aircraft flew more than 900 miles which is approximately the distance from Israel to Iran's nuclear facilities. Iran has been preparing for an attack by burying it's nuclear facilities underground in an effort to prevent destruction of it's nuclear program.  Senior Pentagon officials told the newspaper that the aim of the maneuvers was to practice refueling and send a clear message that Israel may attack Iran if Tehran does not accept diplomatic efforts to stop it from producing uranium for a nuclear bomb.

Given this weeks launch of multiple missiles the threat from Iran had become more apparent than ever, and it is clear that sanctions are not slowing its growing military advances.  Iran has purchased Russian missiles to deploy in an effort to fend off an anticipated Israeli attack.

It is thought that the helicopter exercise was to prepare to rescue Israeli pilots who might be shot down on a raid on Natanz, the site of Iran's uranium facility.

It is clear that we live in a dangerous world which makes success in Iraq and Afghanistan more important than ever.  We are blessed to have a dedicated military which performs in exemplary manner wherever they are deployed.  We must never forget the sacrifices they make on our behalf.

Until next time keep your wings straight and level Hersch!
