Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

by John M. White |

The last few days remind me of my days at MSU, and the time I spent with the Winged Spartans, the flying club at Michigan State University.  The club is long gone now, but back then it was a great supplement to my studies for my BA degree.

Over the years we went from some used Skyhawks to the latest and greatest Cessna Cardinals, and learned all about the flying horizontal stabilizer.  It was interesting to learn, and sometimes challenging to fly until they fixed it with some slots. CLick on image to enlarge

What made me think about all of this is the snow - more snow than we have seen in quite some time. Al Gore, where are you when we need you?  So far today an additional 4", and we have to blow off the drive twice a day just to keep up.  I remember back in 1966 when we had several feet of snow and the kids were jumping out of the dorm windows into the snow banks!  Ah, the good old days.

But no flying today, just work to keep the snow down enough to get in and out of home.  It seems as though the elements are against us, and flying has to wait for another day.

Until next time keep your wings straight and level Hersch!

A Snowy Sunset

Snow Snow on the ground
Sun is sinking down down down
Trees trees covered in Wight
People gasp at the sight

Snow Snow on the ground
Animals scurry all around
Snow Snow in your hair
Stiffness and cold in the air

Snow Snow on the ground
People sledding down down down
Hot Coco and coffee inside
Why not go for another sled ride

Snow Snow on the ground
The sun has set past the ground
Lights light up the city bright
People every where say what a sight
