This is how NOT to act as a private pilot, and how to give all of us pilots a bad name. It seems that a 51 year old private pilot named Tom Huey has been stalking his ex-girlfriend, even to the extent of buzzing her home eight times since April of 2008 resulting in the woman obtaining a restraining order in July of 2008. Apparently he also dropped leaflets from the aircraft, and is alleged to have dropped a rock which shattered a car's windshield. One flight took place at 4:30am in the morning descending to just 250 feet above the victims home. Only in California, right? Well, he was arrested upon landing at the local airport and I suspect will give up this activity soon enough. It is nonsense like this that fuels anti-airport and anti-small airplane feelings in the public, and certainly does not help our cause when it comes to funding and freedom issues. Let's hope there is not much more of this kind of behavior going on. Until next time keep your wings straight and level Hersch! JetAviator7 Oh, I've slipped the surely bonds of earth And hovered out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades; Earthward I've auto'ed and met the rising brush of Non-paved terrain; And done a thousand things you would never care to Skidded and dropped and flared Low in the heat soaked roar. Confined there, I've chased the earthbound traffic And lost the race to insignificant Headwinds; Forward and up a little in ground effect I've topped the General's hedge with drooping turns Where never Skyhawk or even Phantom flew. Shaking and pulling collective, I've lumbered The low untresspassed halls of victor airways, Put out my hand and touched a tree.
