On August 28th of this year biz jet manufacturer Emivest Aerospace Corporation took SJ30 serial number 30 on its first flight. Big deal, you say? Well, it turns out that airplane was just delivered to its new owner, and the new owner is going to take it for a shakedown flight - around the world! First stop - South Africa. I wonder why? Ah, I have been seeing trailers for a new movie starring Morgan Freeman about South Africa and - as it turns out - SJ30 serial number 010 - belongs to .... Morgan Freeman! Oh yes, he has joined a select group of celebrities who have acquired their pilot's licenses, celebs like Harrison Ford, John Travolta and even Hilary Swank, the star of "Amelia". I guess all of that hard work on the movie sets really does have pay scales that reach the skies, and at least that segment of aviation seems to be doing alright, thank you. Freeman started flying in 2002 and acquired his pilot's license sometime later. He will, of course, have a highly qualified second officer with him at all times. Insurance requirements, you know. So off they will go, jaunting through the African vale as they travel from South Africa to Botswana and Kenya, then on to the rest of the world. Hope the second officer isn't married - like my son Chad it doesn't sound like he will be home much. Until next time keep your wings straight and level Hersch! JetAviator7 I've learned that it is what I do not know that I fear, and I strive, outwardly from pride, inwardly from the knowledge that the unknown is what will finally kill me, to know all there is to be known about my airplane. I will never die. — Richard Bach, 'Stranger to the Ground' 1963.
