Finally! Pelosi Will Lose Her Ride!

by John M. White |  | 10 comments

It was a breath of fresh air to hear the soon to be Speaker of the House tell us that he will continue to fly coach class on commercial aircraft when returning to his home district. Finally, someone who identifies with us "common folk".Nancy Pelosi Ride Official records show that Nancy Pelosi burned $ 28,000 each time she flew an Air Force GV from Washington, DC to California, and that in a period of just 18 months blew through over $ 2,000,000! It is clear, even to the casual observer, that Speaker Pelosi thinks she is entitled to use our money to keep her comfortable and away from the "common folk" when traveling around the world. With such arrogance is it any wonder our country is in trouble? I vote for some fresh air in Congress and an end to all waste, no matter how insignificant any one item may be. Anyone else? Until next time keep your wings straight and level Hersch! JetAviator7 ps: Don't forget to sign up for our newsletter "All Things Aviation" here! Read a bit more here:

Pelosi took an obviously unpopular stand to see that 8 million more Americans could be insured. That’s hardly avoiding the common folk.

Just hope that the republicans, (mister pass out the lobbyist’s checks on the floor Boehner included), are as careful with the country’s money as they suggest others should be.

Now, no matter who did that in Washington, that would be a change!

We can’t live in fear for everyone who has some position of importance. There is always someone else further down the line.

Next, the VP is 2nd in line, and I admire Boehner for his stand.

Everyone thinks that a million here or there don’t matter, but when you have hundreds and thousands of those little million dollar deals it begins to add up to some serious bucks.

I’m going to have to go with the House Sergeant at Arms on this one, and I think Boehner should heed his direction:

“As the Sergeant at Arms, I have the responsibility to ensure the security of the members of the House of Representatives, to include the Speaker of the House. The Speaker requires additional precautions due to her responsibilities as the leader of the House and her Constitutional position as second in the line of succession to the presidency.

In a post 9/11 threat environment, it is reasonable and prudent to provide military aircraft to the Speaker for official travel between Washington and her district. The practice began with Speaker Hastert and I have recommended that it continue with Speaker Pelosi. The fact that Speaker Pelosi lives in California compelled me to request an aircraft that is capable of making non-stop flights for security purposes, unless such an aircraft is unavailable. This will ensure communications capabilities and also enhance security. I made the recommendation to use military aircraft based upon the need to provide necessary levels of security for ranking national leaders, such as the Speaker. I regret that an issue that is exclusively considered and decided in a security context has evolved into a political issue."
