Each year at the end of AirVenture the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) holds a dinner to raise money for the EAA's "Young Eagles" program to promote aviation to youngsters. It was a great night raising over $ 2.1M in which a custom Carroll Shelby / Jack Roush Stealth Mustang was auctioned off. The group had hoped to raise $ 1.6M, so one could say the evening was a real success for the Young Eagles program. But, at the dinner Jeppesen had a surprise for one of the attendees. Captain "Sully" Sullenberger of the "Miracle on the Hudson" was there celebrating along with everyone else. Jeppesen had created a very special item to celebrate Sully's incredible feat of landing on the Hudson and saving everyone on board. To honor Sullenberger Jeppesen published the "Hudson Miracle Apch" for the LaGuardia International Airport in New York, a copy of which is below: Pretty cool, eh? Until next time keep your wings straight and level Hersch! JetAviator7 Flying is so many parts skill, so many parts planning, so many parts maintenance, and so many parts luck. The trick is to reduce the luck by increasing the others. — David L. Baker ps: Don't forget to sign up for our newsletter "All Things Aviation" here!
