Every once in a while you run across an interesting website or blog, and "The Digital Aviator" is certainly one of the more interesting ones. I ran across this blog and started to correspond with Norman Rhodes who is flying for a UK carrier as a Captain on the Boeing 777 aircraft. Ever the internet marketer looking to sell my favorite Randolph Aviator sunglasses to fellow pilots, I bribed Norman to help me by writing a post or two on his blog about them. The bribe was simply a pair of Randolph Aviator sunglasses which I sent him gratis and you can see his first impression here:
Randolph Aviators On Duty In A Boeing 777As you can see in the image above "Ivan", the first officer, is wearing the Randolph Aviator sunglasses which are 55mm Size, Matte Black Frame, Bayonet Temples and Gray Glass lenses in the cockpit of the Boeing 777. Captain Rhodes had asked his first officer to give them a try which he kindly agreed to do.
The Sunglasses Are Hard To Retrieve! In Norman's post in The Digital Aviator titled "Randolph – brilliance, with comfort" we find this comment:
Ivan and I chatted for hours, did all the usual pilot stuff, reading, writing etc, eventually we started down across Lake Mitchigan towards The Windy City and 27L at O’Hare. We turned onto the gate and after rolling to a halt, shut down. I looked across at Ivan who on completion of the shutdown checklist had started to pack away charts and prepare for our exit. “Do you think I could have the Randolphs back now please Ivan?” I said. He was still wearing them…I have asked Norman to see if he could get a short video of one of his first officers wearing a pair of these Randolph Aviator sunglasses and hopefully the video will show up one of these days.
