The Lockheed L-1049G Super Constellation “Connie” is an American aircraft, a member of the Lockheed Constellation aircraft line. From 1943 through 1958 the aircraft is manufactured by Lockheed Aircraft in the Constellation family of propeller-driven airliners.
A total of 856 aircraft were produced in numerous models, all distinguished by a triple-tail design and dolphin-shaped fuselage. The Lockheed L-1049G was Lockheed’s response to the successful Douglas DC-6 airliner, first flying in 1950.
The Lockheed L-1049G aircraft was also operated by both the United States Navy and Air Force as transport and AWACS aircraft. This specific model is painted in the TWA paint scheme. Eastern Airlines was a major United States airline that existed from 1926 to 1991.
