More popularly known as the Huey, the Bell UH-1 is a military helicopter that runs on a single, turbo shaft engine. Flying for the first time on October 20, 1956, the Huey was developed by Bell Helicopter to serve as a medical utility helicopter in 1952. The UH-1D, a newer version of the Bell UH-1, was made larger to accommodate six stretchers in its cabin. This had twice the capacity of earlier versions of UH-1 Iroquois helicopters. The doors were also made bigger and the original's single window was replaced with two windows. The UH-1D was the most produced version of the Huey utility helicopter.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
